Africa-Press – Angola. The president of the Democratic Bloc (BD), Filomeno Vieira Lopes, suggested in the city of Huambo, the need to carry out a review of the General State Budget (OGE), to stabilize the country’s economy.

The supporter expressed this position during a lecture addressed to activists from his political background and civil society, under the theme “Vision of the Democratic Bloc on local authorities”.

He said there was a need for a review of the OGE to counter the rise in prices for basic food baskets and other services, taking into account the reduced purchasing capacity of families and public servants, resulting from the depreciation of the national currency.

He explained that the reduction of external dependence and the import of essential products, as well as the valorization of labor, to promote local development, are other fundamental elements that should deserve attention from the Executive.

Filomeno Vieira Lopes highlighted that the Democratic Bloc is committed to building a participatory economic development plan, which involves the direct involvement of Angolans, from the perspective of respect for the democratic principles that communities demand.

In his opinion, the country is a mono-producer and dependent on oil revenues to stimulate the local economy. Accordingly, there is a need to implement local authorities so that citizens are involved in the country’s development.

The president of BD holds a two-day party work session in the city of Huambo, after officially opening the 2024 political agenda, in the neighboring province of Bié.

The Democratic Bloc joined CASA-CE in the 2017 elections, having assumed the role of vice-president for electoral matters.
