Africa-Press – Angola. The national senior men’s basketball team beat Kenya this Saturday, 88-58, in a match on the 2nd round of the first qualifying window for Afrobasket`2025.
This is the second triumph for the African champions in this competition taking place in Hammamet (Tunisia), in group E of the qualifiers for next year’s continental event.
Friday, Angola beat the Republic of Guinea, 76-70.
Jilson Bango was the best scorer with 19 points, after having also scored the most in the previous game (24 points).
Childe Dundão, with 18 pts, was the second most accurate. In the previous match, this Petro de Luanda base scored 12 pts.
The national team took advantage in the first quarter 22-12, in the second they failed in defense, but maintained their external game, which allowed them to leave at half-time with an advantage of 11 points (44-33).
The national team won the third quarter again (64-48), the last of which served to manage effort and the consequent victory, 88-58.
With this victory, Angola takes the lead in group E, with four points, followed by Tunisia (two), the same as Kenya, while Guinea only has the total.
At 5 pm, at the end of the group E day, Tunisia will face the Republic of Guinea.
In the first round on Friday, the Angolans beat Guinea 76 -70 in their debut, while Kenya was defeated by Tunisia 90 – 69.
Angola evolves again on Sunday, from 5 pm, in the final round of this phase.
