Africa-Press – Angola. The visit of the Minister of Culture and Tourism to Serbia, to reinforce cooperation in these areas, is the highlight of the social news, which ends this Saturday.
On that occasion, the two countries signed a cooperation agreement in the cultural field, in which they prioritize the recovery and conservation of historical cultural sites.
The memorandum was signed in the city of Belgrade, between the Angolan Minister of Culture and Tourism, Filipe Zau, the Deputy Prime Minister of Serbia, Ana Bnarbic, and the Serbian Minister of Culture, Maja Gojkovic.
It covers the areas of archaeology, cinematography, copyright and intellectual property and will run from 2024 to 2026.
On the occasion, Minister Filipe Zau considered it necessary to facilitate the hiring of archaeological specialists so that, as part of the elevation of M’Banza Kongo to a World Heritage Site, archaeological excavations could continue at the site, in accordance with UNESCO recommendations.
In the last seven days, the Secretary of State for Social Communication, Nuno Caldas, said that radio stations Cacuaco, Viana and Cazenga need to be resized, in terms of equipment, infrastructure and staff training.
The person responsible highlighted that these local radios were resized more than 10 years ago, to provide closer communication with communities, covering all municipalities in Luanda.
Speaking to the press, at the end of a visit to the aforementioned bodies, Nuno Caldas considered it essential that these radio stations adopt a stance of greater interaction and proximity with citizens, as they are vehicles for transformation, dissemination and cultural training.
Another topic of note has to do with the meeting that the Minister of Youth and Sports, Rui Falcão, held with youth associations, in his first contact with young people, after recently being appointed to the position.
On the occasion, he reiterated the Executive’s commitment to working with the country’s different youth associations to respond to the main concerns of this fringe of society.
The meeting served as a way for the government official to learn about the main concerns of young people, having stated that specific programs will be created for each situation that afflicts young Angolans.
The Minister of Territorial Administration, Dionísio da Fonseca, made a working visit to the province of Cunene, in order to evaluate the execution of projects linked to the Integrated Plan for Intervention in the Municipality (PIIM).
Speaking to the press, Dionísio da Fonseca said that the visit is part of the plan to monitor the actions of the provincial government in order to verify the level of evolution of some projects included in the PIIM portfolio, especially those linked to the Ministry of Territorial Administration.
According to the government official, the primary assessment of the projects underway at the province’s headquarters revealed some constraints in the execution of the construction work for the 26-classroom school, where there was some delay on the part of the contractor.
Another highlight was the signing of a cooperation protocol to improve the safety and protection of drivers and passengers between the Integrated Public Security Center (CISP) and the international technology company “Yango”.
The protocol aims to reinforce prevention and fight against crime in the Angolan capital.
The two entities will work together to improve the control of transport service providers, such as validating driver and vehicle data and supporting users in the event of an emergency.
Police authorities will analyze the criminal record, driver’s license, license plate and ownership title of vehicles that use the Yango app to provide transport services.
In the province of Benguela, the inclusive sanitation project was launched for coastal cities, with the aim of contributing to improving the living conditions of communities.
According to the National Director of Water and Sanitation, Elsa Ramos, the project will cover the cities of Lobito, Catumbela, Benguela and Baía Farta.
The official informed that it is budgeted at US$150 million, financed by the African Development Bank (ADB), together with the Africa Growing Togheter Fund and the Angolan Government.
In terms of arts, an exhibition of seventy-five works by Angolan artists is on display in Luanda, in an initiative by artist Álvaro Macieira.
The works, exhibited in the International Exhibition Hall of the National Museum of Natural History, belong to 50 Angolan artists and convey messages of unity, cohesion and solidarity.
The sample will last for six months, for greater appreciation by art lovers.
