Africa-Press – Angola. After Angola’s participation in CAN`2023, with unprecedented numbers, the Angolans continue to stand out in their respective teams in the diaspora, particularly Zito Luvumbo and Fredy Ribeiro, last weekend.

Playing for Cagliari, from the Italian Serie A, Zito Luvumbo reveals himself to be the “jewel in the crown”, with proven proof.

On Sunday (25), the Angolan striker scored the 1-1 equalizer, at 90+6, in the match for the 26th round, at the Unipol Domus stadium, in Sardinia, against Napoli, played by the Nigerian striker, Victor Osimhen (best African CAF player of 2023).

The 21-year-old winger, who has been predominant in the National Team, once again earned the trust of coach Cláudio Ranieri, for the duel against the champion of the 2022/23 season.

Napoli were the first to score, through the inevitable Osimhen, in the 65th minute. However, the Nigerian striker was substituted in the 84th minute due to injury.

When thinking about the “away” victory, Zito Luvumbo restored equality in added time, thus scoring his 4th goal of the season for the Italians. In between he has four assists.

With the draw, Cagliari remains in the relegation zone (19th place) with 20 points, while Napoli occupies 9th place in the League, with 37 points.

Another Angolan, who also stood out, particularly last week, was Fredy Ribeiro, who played a key role in Eyupspor’s 3-2 victory over Sakaryaspor, in the 24th round of the Turkish Second League.

Fredy made the pass for the first goal of the match, scored by Regattin, in the 28th minute. The 33-year-old Angolan midfielder was substituted in the 63rd minute.

Thus, Fredy Ribeiro already has seven assists this season, in 17 games for Eyupspor, scoring 1 goal. The midfielder also had three appearances for Antalyaspor, before changing clubs.

With the triumph achieved, Eyupspor maintains the leadership of the Second League, now having 58 points.

The captain of the National Team continues to justify his status as the main “waiter” of the recently concluded 2023 African Cup of Nations, but played in 2024, in Côte d`Ivoire.

In CAN, in which both players were predominant, Angola finished at the top of group D, with seven points, scored nine goals, against only four conceded, setting a new record at this stage of the competition.

For the first time, Angola won three games in the final phase of a CAN and achieved the best score ever in a group stage (seven).

The five points achieved in 2008, in Ghana, and in 2010, in Angolan territory, were the best records achieved until then.

Overall, the national team beat Mauritania (3-2), Burkina Faso (2-0), Namibia (3-0), drew with Algeria (1-1) and lost to Nigeria (0- 1).
