Africa-Press – Angola. The duo Sara Lemos and Geovana Kusselama aim to reach the podium, in beach volleyball, in the women’s category, at the African Games, to be held from the 8th to the 23rd of March, in the city of Accra, in Ghana.

The fact was reported, in Luanda, by captain Sara Lemos, as part of the preparation for the competition, stating that the first objective was to improve the 6th place from Angola’s last participation, in Maputo, Mozambique, in 2011.

The volleyball player, bronze medalist from ZonaVI in Mozambique, recognized that it will not be an easy mission, but with her colleague Giovana Kusselama, they will do everything to dignify the country’s name, due to their hard preparation and dedication to the event.

At the 2011 African Games, in Maputo, Angola won 26 medals, six (6) gold, ten (10) silver and the same number of bronze.

The pair, this Monday, are enjoying a rest, as they participated in the 1st stage of the beach volleyball circuit, called “Gustavo Cruz Tournament”, in which Sara Lemos, who partnered with Sayonara Magalhães, won the tournament, by beating Geovana Kusselama/Domingas N’ganga, by 2 sets to 1, Sunday, on Luanda Island.

At the African Games in Ghana, Angola will also go with a men’s pair, composed of Edson Figueiredo/Evan Cipriano, with the same objective of winning the gold medal.

In 2015, at the African Games in Brazzaville, Congo, the duo Edson Figueiredo/Éden Cerqueira won the gold medal. In 2019, in Tunisia, the Angolans failed to reach the podium, finishing in 4th position.
