Africa-Press – Angola. The director of Culture, Tourism, Youth and Sports of Cunene, Nelson Ndemulikuata, defended this Monday, in Ondjiva, the investment in the professionalization of actors, in order to guarantee greater quality in the works presented to the public.
Regarding the 26th of February, Comedian’s Day, Nelson Ndemulikuata, said that artists must invest more in training and research, to assert themselves more in front of the public.
Comedy is a genre of fiction that consists of works that are intended to be humorous by inducing laughter, especially in theater, cinema, stand-up comedy, television, radio and any other form of entertainment.
He made it known that many plays presented by local groups require higher quality content, which is why there is a need for actors to have training and exchange experience with more experienced actors.
“Every year we promote theater festivals in the province, we notice many young people with talent and we think that, with the desired training, their work would have more quality and be valued”, he highlighted.
The person responsible also encouraged the artists to invest in the diversification of plays, especially comedy, which is little developed in the province.
Nelson Ndemulikuata highlighted the need for the business class to invest in artistic projects, as a way of removing youth from alcoholism, drugs and delinquency.
In turn, the coordinator of the Olonguissi theater group, Jeremias Kangombe, recognized the support he has received from the Government, the initiatives of arts makers, aimed at the development and appreciation of culture.
Jeremias Kangombe recalled that in terms of audience, the theater in the city of Ondjiva is well served, the only thing missing is to extend it to the municipal headquarters, which involves creating space for shows.
The province only has one theater at the António Didalelwa Media Library, in the city of Ondjiva, and six theater groups.
In the province of Cunene, 300 culture makers are controlled, including musicians, professional dancers, photographers, artisans, theater groups and event promoters.
Comedian’s Day has an uncertain origin, but the popularization of this occupation took place in ancient Greece. The term “comedy” comes from the combination of the Greek words “komos” (which means procession or party) and “oidos” (translated, in Portuguese, to song or singer). In other words, comedy is a “funny song”.
