Africa-Press – Angola. The Social Action and Family Valorization program, focusing on the “Jango de Valores” project, aimed at building moral, civic, cultural and patriotic values, implemented by the government since 2021, carried out several awareness-raising actions that reached 41,811 citizens.

The project has the participation of social actors, technicians, civic agents, specialists in various fields, who speak on various topics about raising awareness among families and society about changing behavior.

The data was provided by the Secretary of State for Social Action, Lúcio do Amaral, during the central event celebrating Father’s Day, he informed that the program aims to change behavior, praising positive attitudes of integrative and participatory citizenship.

According to him, the Jango de Valores project aims to respond to the Executive’s concerns regarding early pregnancy, escape from fatherhood and excessive consumption of alcoholic beverages by teenagers.

These social phenomena, he pointed out, contribute to the exposure of adolescents to situations of risk and social vulnerability, “caused in most cases by the absence and weak participation of parents in their children’s lives”.

In his speech, Lúcio do Amaral congratulated all the parents, whom he asked to continue fulfilling their role with zeal, dedication, love, joy and responsibility.

Fathers who are absent, with little participation in their children’s lives and who practice violence against members of their family, are asked to change their behavior.

On the other hand, he invited children and mothers to offer equal love, affection, respect, understanding, tolerance and forgiveness to their father for also being a “needy and fragile” human being, worthy of enjoying the maximum attention and care of family members.

The Secretary of State advised society to constantly monitor their children and report all types of violence against children, through the lines SOS Children – 15015 and SOS Violência 15020 and via support terminals 145 and 146, also available for psychological support and referral of families.

However, the governor of the province, João Diogo Gaspar, also highlighted the role of fathers in raising children, as they are their mentors to become good citizens and contribute to the development of the country.

In the social domain, he continued, the Provincial Government is engaged in the implementation of several housing projects to guarantee parents the realization of their dream of owning their own home.

However, João Diogo Gaspar requested society’s collaboration in the task of promoting responsible parents.

To illustrate the dimension of the father in the lives of his children, João Diogo Gaspar quoted the English speaker George Herbert, stating that “A father is worth more than a hundred schoolmasters”.

In turn, the children asked their parents and guardians for better time management, so as not to harm the family because of work.

The children, present at the central event celebrating March 19th, complained about the fact that many parents have little time to interact with their children, due to work factors, a situation that has contributed to a reduction in the affection and attention they deserve.

Called to interact with adults, during the round table “Responsible parenthood – a current challenge”, the boys also lamented the behavior of some parents and guardians who use children to engage in street vending, purchase alcoholic beverages and They show little regard for their children’s education and academic training.

This year the celebration dedicated to parents took place under the motto “Responsible parenthood, a current challenge”, with the purpose of inviting parents to exercise their role responsibly and in an exemplary manner as leaders, providers and guarantors of sustenance, stability and family harmony.

Namibe

In the province of Namibe, the date was marked by a lecture on the theme “Dad, a model of inspiration for his children”.

When addressing the subject, university professor Laura Inácia called on the country to adopt responsible conduct that aims to maintain the structure of the family with ethical, moral and civic values, thus contributing to the country’s socio-economic development.

He stressed that the challenges of responsible fatherhood must deserve the collaboration of the entire society so that from now on we can have well-structured and solid families.

He made it known that the word father has power within the family, with a broad meaning as progenitor, inventor, head of descendants, divine protector, while the word mother, the term caring, appears as the main element of differentiation between both genders.

Lunda Sul

In Lunda Sul, psychologist Vieira Mimbo appealed to parents to invest in their children’s good education, to assert themselves in society.

Speaking at the lecture on “Responsible Fatherhood for Family Stability”, the person responsible said that fathers must spend time with the family to transmit the principles of citizenship, as well as adequate support to be successful.

Vieira Mimbo stated that there are some men who do not accompany their children and others leave their homes, which he considers to be a bad example of a father, which society condemns.

He said that parents must place the child at the center of priorities to build a society based on respect for moral and civic values, as well as combating practices that undermine the well-being of families.

He added that, much more than a parent, a true father must be present in the child’s life, be patient and affectionate, raise, educate, feed, record and transmit to his children values for life.
