Africa-Press – Angola. Traditional cattle breeders in the province of Benguela have secured packages to support investment, as part of the institutional support provided to the “class” by the local government.
The guarantee was given, this Saturday, by the provincial governor, Luís Nunes, on the sidelines of the “Cattle Breeder’s Day” celebrations, which took place in the province of Cuanza-Norte.
According to the official, who highlighted the existence of packages to support producers’ investment throughout the country, with reduced rates, the support provided in Benguela involves, among others, improving the herd, introducing males from other “tribes” to increase production of cattle in this region.
In order for the process to be as comprehensive as possible, it drew the attention of the creators to greater unity among the class.
He considered it necessary to improve the crossing to increasingly repopulate the country, a process that Benguela, in turn, is already doing.
In relation to the Camabatela Plateau, he highlighted that the region has always been one of high livestock production, as it has all the conditions, including lots of pasture, and defended more investments in this area.
With an area of 12 thousand square kilometers, the Camabatela Plateau is a region rich in animal production, with favorable conditions for the development of agriculture, beef cattle farming and the breeding of small ruminants.
The area benefited from an animal repopulation project aimed at making it self-sufficient in cattle production.
To celebrate “Cattle Breeder’s Day”, marked this Saturday, actors from the livestock sector, including members of cooperatives and investors, met in the town of Camabatela (Cuanza-Norte), sharing the best that is produced in the country regarding animal husbandry and food security.
