Africa-Press – Angola. The national junior women’s handball team faces a similar team from Japan today in a game valid for the 17th to 20th place qualifiers of the World Championship taking place in Skopje, North Macedonia.
In case of victory, the national team will face, tomorrow, the winner of Brazil – Spain, to discuss 17th place in the competition. The four teams involved in today’s match want 17th place, the most honorable for all the associations that failed to enter the title phase.
Against Japan, based on what José Terça Chuma’s team has demonstrated, it is another game in which the fans can suffer. Angola will need to be at its best, as the teams in this round are evenly matched.
The Japanese hold the Asian bronze medal. In the last edition, they finished the world cup in ninth place and are not happy with the results obtained in this competition.

Angola lost to Iceland, 19-24, and to North Macedonia, 24-28. Without the possibility of defending sixth place, the team was relegated to the “President cup”, where they beat Uzbekistan, 43-18, and Guinea, 23-22, respectively.
Bernardeth Belo, captain, has been the best unit of the African champions, with 37 goals scored.
Norway is the world title holder.
