Africa-Press – Angola. The President of the Republic, João Lourenço, congratulated the Congolese People and Government on the celebration of the 64th anniversary of the National Independence of the Democratic Republic of Congo, marked this Sunday, June 30.
In a letter sent to his counterpart Félix Tshisekedi, João Lourenço expressed his recognition “for the efforts made by the sons of this nation, who put all their commitment and tenacity into achieving independence”.
Here is the message in full:
“Your Excellency,
On behalf of the Angolan Executive and on my own behalf, I have the honour to congratulate the Congolese People, the Government and Your Excellency, on the celebration of the 64th anniversary of the National Independence of the Democratic Republic of Congo.
I would like to join Your Excellency in expressing my recognition for the efforts made by the sons of this nation, who put all their commitment and tenacity into achieving independence, and express my hope that, together and with the support of sister countries and other international partners, we can continue all the work that has been carried out, aiming to achieve the great aspirations of the Congolese People for peace, harmony, progress and the well-being of all citizens.
I would like to reiterate the willingness of the government I lead to work in coordination with your government, both bilaterally and within the SADC and ICGLR frameworks, to intensify actions that lead to the achievement of the objectives of national and regional stability, and projects of mutual interest that foster the development of our nations.
Please accept, Your Excellency, my best wishes for good health and success and prosperity for the people of the DRC.”
