Africa-Press – Angola. The National Honors Team faces Lesotho today, at 2:00 pm, at the Nelson Mandela By Stadium, South Africa, in the game corresponding to the third round of Group C of the COSAFA Cup 2024. The Angolan team fights to guarantee passage to the semi-finals.
The Palancas Negras are breathing with great motivation, after their 3-2 victory against the Seychelles Islands, played on Monday. Pedro Gonçalves and his team will enter with the ambition of overcoming Lesotho, considered one of the most accessible opponents in the Angola series.
Although they had difficulties in the first two games, the increase in the athletes’ confidence levels is visible during training and during rest periods. Music and dance are permanently linked to the Palancas Negras, whose Kuduro style livens up the “evening”.
Angola’s clash with Lesotho will take place at the same time as Namibia’s clash with Seychelles. The group is led by the Palancas Negras. However, the Namibians also have the same four (4) points as Angola. Pedro Gonçalves and his team have the advantage due to the number of goals scored. They have scored three goals and conceded two. The “Warriors”, as the Namibian national team is known, scored two goals and conceded one in the match against Lesotho.
The Palancas Negras “shepherd” is confident of a good result and consequent qualification for the COSAFA semi-finals.
“Now we depend on ourselves for the third game against Lesotho. They came with all the players from the first team. It is obvious that they have players with a different level of maturity and that is known. We will try to give a good response and, obviously, reach the semi-finals. We must have the ability to react to difficulties and the mistakes we made cannot happen again”, he promised.
It should be noted that only the top-placed teams in each group will advance to the semi-finals. The matches in the next phase are scheduled for 2:00 pm and 5:00 pm on Friday.
