New Industrial Park Promotes Development in Angola

Africa-Press – Angola. The new Funda Industrial Park will promote the development of the area in the country, associated with the creation of jobs and reduce social asymmetries, the ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to Angola, Zhang Bin said Saturday in Luanda.

Speaking, shortly after the laying of the first building stone for the project, the Chinese diplomat highlighted that “his country’s authorities have always encouraged the local business community to invest in the productive sector, a model which he believes is necessary and important for diversify the Angolan economy”.

For him, “this act also represents the beginning of the period of transformation in the relationship between Angola and China”, reinforcing in this speech the opportunities that his country has in the field of industry, associated with the needs of the Angolan productive sector.

The official ceremony took place this Saturday morning (July 13), in a space attached to 210 hectares, located in the commune of Funda, Cacuaco, on which the industrial park was now born, with an investment of around 600 million US dollars.

Different entities attended the official launch of this structure that will bring together 160 manufacturing units and were unanimous about the economic and social importance of the investment, whose perspective points to the creation of 20,000 jobs.

For her part, the general director of the Institute for the Development of Industry and Technological Innovation of Angola, Filomena Oliveira, sees advantages in this project, but says that “it is necessary to work towards the master plans for organizing the industrial park in Angola, both in municipalities, as well as in the provinces”.

“Within the Ministry of Industry, we manage around 22 parks, so we need investors for these structures.

The need for integration and a national master plan for the development of municipal, provincial and national industry summarizes the urgency at this time so that we can capitalize on investor resources and the opportunities that Angola has for its industrialization”, she argued.

On the other hand, the secretary of the MPLA Political Bureau for Social Policy, Maricel Capama, emphasized the benefits of the industrial park for workers and the community, adding that the industrial project meets the vision of the Angolan Government in the fight against poverty.
