The Port of Luanda is determined to combat and mitigate the risks that affect port activities in order to strengthen sustainable business management in this segment, said this Thursday in Luanda the acting President of the Board of Directors of the Port of Luanda, Willy Guimarães.

According to the responsible person speaking at the Business Continuity Management Forum, the institution’s commitment is to follow best management practices to ensure the continuity of the port’s operations and to avoid disruptions that could lead to reputational, financial, operational and environmental damage.

To this end, the manager stressed the need to increasingly strengthen dialogue and cooperation in the area of ​​business continuity management.

Regarding the forum, Willy Guimarães said the initiative aims to raise awareness and integrate an organizational culture focused on prevention, safety and resilience in commercial risk management.

He recalled that based on the ISO 22301 standard, the Business Continuity Management System increases the organization’s ability to respond and readiness in the event of disruptions, ensuring business continuity.In turn, the director of the Internal Audit Service of the Port of Luanda, Pascual João, said that this institution deals with the main issues that concern the port community, within the framework of good collaborative management practices.

He noted that business continuity management is a practice that ensures the sustainability and security of an organization.

He noted events related to natural disasters and fires as elements that could negatively impact an organization, such as disruptions to business or operations.

The one-day Business Continuity Management Forum covered topics such as “The Importance of Business Continuity Management”, “DP World – Business Continuity Plan: Structure, Functionality and Implementation Challenges”, “The Role of Internal Audit in Business Continuity Management”, among others.
