Africa-Press – Angola. A photo exhibition will be held in the provinces of Benguela, Namibe and Luanda to illustrate the development of Angolan handball in international competitions, according to a federation source.
According to the president of the Angolan Handball Federation (FAAND), José do Amaral, who gave this information to Radio 5 on Friday, this is a private initiative of former national players Maura Faial and Teresa Ulundo ‘Chinha’, and the federation has accepted it.
He added that the exhibition is part of the celebrations to mark the 50th anniversary of Angola’s national independence on 11 November.
We’re talking about a photo exhibition called ‘Expo Handball 2025 – The Path of Pearls’ because we feel that many athletes today don’t know where it all began. We’re celebrating the 16th title, but someone made the first title,” said Amaral.
The initiative aims to showcase the achievements of former players such as Palmira Barbosa, Fábia Raposo, Graça Bandeirosa and many others by collecting the existing photo archive, with the first exhibition to be held in Benguela in May during the city’s festivities.
In Namibe province it will be held in August, and in Luanda in October and November, for three weeks.
Amaral said the exhibition will feature photos, all with captions, of the country’s first participation in an African event in 1984, which will also refer to the men, highlighting the women for the countless achievements so far.
