Africa-Press – Angola. Six hundred and 40 illegal immigrants, who lived in the province of Cabinda, were repatriated in the last seven days, by the Migration and Foreigners Service (SME).

Speaking to the press today, the SME spokesperson in Cabinda, migration inspector Ana Liumba, explained that of this number, 623 citizens are from the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and 17 from the Republic of Congo.

He informed that the aforementioned illegal immigrants were collected following control and inspection actions against foreigners in an irregular migratory situation, carried out by local authorities.

The repatriation took place at the Yema and Massabi border posts.

The source called for the population’s continued collaboration with the competent authorities, denouncing the presence of illegal immigrants in the communities.

Citizens detained for gold exploration

Meanwhile, eight citizens, including nationals and foreigners, were detained Friday by the National Police in the municipality of Belize, for illegal gold exploration.

The action, which involved personnel from the Angolan Armed Forces (FAA), took place in the Luali commune, where the alleged miners were caught.

During the operation, part of the fight against the illegal exploitation of strategic minerals, 9.28 grams of gold and various means that were used for mining were seized.
