Africa-Press – Angola. The Namibe government and the tourism company Ango Deserto signed on Monday a memorandum of understanding for the joint management of the local camel breeding project, located at Caraculo locality, with the aim of promoting tourism in the region.
At the Caraculo Zootechnical Station in the Bibala Municipality, a project is being implemented to breed camels from the United Arab Emirates, which have adapted to the region’s climate, indicating that the site has favorable conditions for housing this species. There are currently 132 animals at the site.
The agreement was signed by the Deputy Governor of Namibe for the Political, Social and Economic Sector, Abel Kapitango, and the General Director of the Ango Deserto company, Dilma Andrade, in the presence of the Secretary of Tourism, Augusto Kalikemala.
The process has allowed the technical training of local personnel, the rehabilitation of infrastructure (support housing), the marking of the perimeter and the construction of stables.
It is developed by a joint team between the Ministries of Environment, Tourism and specialists from the Emirates, who provide technical support for its success.
Augusto Kalikemala emphasized that the project will be an example for countries in the region and will attract tourists and promote the development of the municipality of Bibala and the province in general.
The director of Ango Deserto, on his part, said that the institution is looking for partnerships with investor agencies to increase the visibility of the project, seeking to consolidate Namibe as a tourist center.
