Africa-Press – Angola. Angola and Turkey signed on Tuesday in Istanbul a memorandum of understanding to strengthen cooperation in the areas of security and internal order.
According to a press release sent , the agreement signed by the Minister of Interior, Manuel Homem, and his Turkish counterpart, Ali Yerlikaya, establishes the implementation of joint actions in the police, criminal investigation, migration, prison system and civil protection and firefighting, promoting the exchange of experiences and technical training between the two countries.
The agreement was signed during the three-day working visit of the Angolan minister within the framework of the diplomatic relations established between Angola and Turkey, which strengthens the strategic partnership between the two countries.
In addition to the security sector, bilateral cooperation covers other key sectors for sustainable development, such as defense, trade, industry, agriculture and transportation.
The Angolan delegation, which is in Instambul to consolidate cooperation mechanisms in strategic areas, is composed of senior officials from the Ministry of Interior, including the Commander General of the National Police, Commissioner General Francisco da Silva.
Turkey, with its geostrategic position between Europe and Asia, high economic growth and consolidated experience in the security and defense sector, represents a strategic partner for Angola in the implementation of policies aimed at modernizing and strengthening security and public order institutions.
With this agreement, the Angolan government reaffirms its commitment to strengthening international partnerships that contribute to the country’s growth and stability, promoting security, development and mutual cooperation with friendly nations.
