Africa-Press – Angola. UNITA says that activist José Pedro Kactiungo has not yet corrected some flaws to normalize his situation in the party, after the Constitutional Court (TC) extinguished the entire process related to his suspension, ordering his reinstatement.
“There are some procedures that activist José Pedro Kactiungo has not yet completed to normalize his situation. He himself knows what they are,” the president of UNITA’s national jurisdiction council, António Pedro Cangombe, told Novo Jornal.
“He was never removed from the party. We hope he complies with some procedures,” insisted António Pedro Cangombe, who did not reveal what the procedures were.
Several comments have emerged on social media from internet users claiming that the former UNITA presidential candidate is finding it difficult to resume his militancy in the organization as normal.
It should be noted that the TC, through ruling 947/2024, considered that the militant José Pedro Kactiungo, suspended by the party in 2021, was the victim of illegal sanctions by UNITA, extinguishing the entire process relating to his suspension and ordering his reinstatement in this party.
The militant’s suspension occurred after allegations of conspiracy against the party and some members were allegedly proven.
José Pedro Katchiungo, who ran for party leadership in 2019, called for the annulment of three UNITA decisions, namely his preventive suspension from the Political Commission in November 2021, the termination of his membership and a disciplinary process on alleged facts that occurred in 2022, including links to expelled individuals who are hostile to the party, and participation in the inauguration of the President of the Republic.
In its counter-claims, UNITA, despite not recognising the applicant’s legitimacy for the action, which it considered to be in bad faith, declared that the militant’s full political-party rights had been restored, after the sanction applied to him had been served.
