Jack TimóTeo Aims to Maintain his Unbeaten Record

Africa-Press – Angola. Jack Timóteo, an Angolan boxer, will face American Nelson “Mão Quente” Hampton today in the second round of the regular phase of the Team Combat League (TCL), a professional boxing league. Timóteo, from Dallas Enforcers, assured that he is motivated for the fight and hopes for victory over his opponent from the Houston Hitmen.

“I am working hard. I do not intend to change the way I face my opponents, they are all more experienced. I only think about work, but the goal is to remain victorious”, he stressed. For the “Angolan prodigy”, 21 years old, this will be his third time in a professional boxing ring, while Mão Quente, 22, has already fought 21 times, including 12 victories. The hot hand is also a knockout fighter; in his 12 victories, six were by KO, a fact that doesn’t bother Jack. “I’m focused on my work”, he stressed.

Although he is a regular athlete in the TCL, today’s opponent did not fight in the first round, while Jack knocked out Jonathan de Pina, another American from the Boston Butchers team, after 30 seconds of fighting and helped the team consolidate its first victory.

The Dallas Enforcers did not qualify for the second phase last season, which is why they recruited athletes with the aim of doing better this season. The TCL has a different competition model from the traditional one. Each team represents a city and is made up of male and female boxers from different weight categories.

Each match between two teams has 24 rounds, with 1 round per boxer (there are no fights of three or more, as in traditional boxing). The fighters face each other only once a night, during a three-minute round.

The judges award the victory of each round to one of the boxers. The winning team is the one with the most round victories at the end of the match. Victories by knockout count as extra points. The best teams from the first phase qualify for the play-off.
