The Minister of Fisheries and Marine Resources, Carmen dos Santos, has been in Seoul, the capital of South Korea, since yesterday to participate in the tenth edition of the Oceans Conference, which will take place in Busan from 28 to 30 April. Under the motto “Our Ocean, Our Action”, the conference marks ten years of global efforts to protect the oceans, highlighting the importance of concrete action and digital innovation to promote sustainable oceans.

The special theme “Digital Oceans” proposes the use of technologies for more effective and rapid marine management.

Angola, committed to preserving its vast marine resources, values ​​international cooperation to ensure the sustainability of the fisheries sector, which is responsible for around 3% of the national GDP and thousands of jobs.

The partnership with South Korea, in the area of ​​food security and fishing infrastructure, has been a positive example of this cooperation.Angola’s presence at the conference reaffirms its commitment to strengthening ocean governance and promoting a balance between development and marine conservation.

Upon her arrival at Incheon International Airport, Minister Carmen Santos was received by Angola’s Ambassador to the Republic of Korea, Sianga Abílio.
