Africa-Press – Angola. The president of the National Assembly, Carolina Cerqueira, yesterday expressed her strong rejection of the attitude of the members of the UNITA Parliamentary Group who visited several public institutions without due authorization from the leadership of the Parliament, which, as a rule, is responsible for making a prior request to the respective institutions. According to Carolina Cerqueira, this attitude constitutes a clear violation of the constitutional principles and the rules of procedure of the National Assembly.
The information was transmitted by the first president of the Board of the National Assembly, Manuel Lopes Dembo, after a meeting with the presidents of the parliamentary groups.
According to Manuel Lopes Dembo, the president reinforced that the actions of the members of parliament must always respect the principle of separation and interdependence of powers between the sovereign bodies, as well as the principle of civility and courtesy between parliamentarians, government officials and public managers. Things cannot be done outside the ethical standards that members of parliament are obliged to respect.”The National Assembly has carried out fact-finding visits to public institutions through Specialized Working Committees, with due authorization from the President of the National Assembly and prior coordination with the institutions, which guarantees respect for the Constitution and the Law,” explained Dembo.
Carolina Cerqueira called on parliamentary groups to respect the rules established by the Code of Ethics and Parliamentary Decorum in their activities, warning that non-compliance may result in individual liability.
