Africa-Press – Angola. The oil sector has been one of the fastest growing in recent years, contributing significantly to the country’s economy, said the Minister of Mineral Resources, Oil and Gas yesterday in Luanda. Diamantino Azevedo, speaking on the sidelines of the launch of the book “History of the Oil Sector in Angola”, stated that the sector was one of the fastest developing and for this reason alone it is the one that contributes most to the GDP, and that it plays a relevant role in the country’s efficiency.

The minister also highlighted some important projects that have had the greatest impact on the national economy in recent years, with emphasis on the new governance model for the oil sector, tax and legislative reforms that have helped maintain production at around one million barrels per day.

The approval of the strategy for exploring more oil, the gas law, he continued, will soon allow the production of gas not associated with oil. We recently opened the Barra do Dande Ocean Terminal, in addition to investing in the production of ammonia and urea, one of the main components of fertilizers, from gas.
