Africa-Press – Angola. The third edition of the International Sport Fishing Tournament will be held from 13 to 16 June in the municipality of Dirico, in the province of Cuando, and is being promoted by the Okavango Basin Tourism Development Hub. The general director of the Okavango Basin Tourism Development Hub, João Sebastião, said that 15 teams from Namibia, two from Botswana and one from Angola have already registered.
“There is a slight delay due to financial issues, but everything is being done to ensure that participants have everything they need during the scheduled period. We are working with the Ministry of Tourism and the Government of Cuando to ensure that the event starts smoothly and as planned,” he assured.
The Tournament aims to give greater visibility to the tourism potential of the province of Cuando and in particular to the Development Hub for the promotion of tourism.“In the coming years, tourism must be a visible activity and the tourism resources of the Okavango Basin region must be used for the economic and sustainable development of the country and in particular of the province of Kwanda,” he stressed.
In the last edition held in June last year, the Namibian team Fishi On won the title. The Namibian teams VMS Sport and Aliboats came in second and third place. The event was attended by 19 teams representing Namibia, Botswana and Angola.
