Angola will Produce 35 Million Injectables/Year from 2027

Africa-Press – Angola. The company ‘THERA’, a producer of pharmaceuticals on Monday laid the first stone for the construction of a factory in the municipality of Calumbo, Icolo and Bengo province, which is expected to produce 35 million injectables and two billion pills per year, starting in 2027.

The chairman of the consortium of companies that presented the THERA brand, Rafael Prata, said that the group made an investment of 100 million euros, of which 15% are main resources, and, in the first phase of operation, 30% of the products will be exported.

He noted that after the materialization of the project, with production scheduled to start in July 2027, it will contribute to the transformation of health in Angola.

Antimalarials, antiemetics, anti-HIV, analgesics, antirheumatics, antituberculosis, bulimia and electrolyte alteration dressings, endocrine disorders, cardiovascular system, digestive system, are among the medicines to be produced.

The project is expected to generate more than 250 direct jobs, covering the areas of production, quality control, industrial maintenance, logistics, administration, security, specialized technical support and more than a thousand indirect jobs.

The Thera company is a consortium made up of the entities Alfa Saúde, the Angolan Sovereign Fund, FHC Grupo, Nova Nord, Socintec and Thera Healthcare.
