Africa-Press – Angola. Angolan Foreign minister Téte António and Russian Ambassador to Angola Vladimir Tararov, met in Luanda on Tuesday with the main focus being on assessing the state of cooperation between the two nations.
A press release, reveals that the meeting also served as an opportunity for the Russian diplomat to bid farewell to Téte António, on the occasion of the end of his diplomatic mission in Angola, which began in May 2017.
The conversation also included the current state of bilateral relations between the two countries, with an emphasis on political, diplomatic and economic issues, the revitalization of the Angola-Russia Intergovernmental Commission, as well as the encouragement of high-level official visits between the two countries.
Minister Téte António, on behalf of the Angolan government, recognized ambassador Vladimir Tararov’s commitment to improving bilateral relations and expressed his best wishes for success in his new role.
In turn, Vladimir Tararov also introduced Russia’s new Chargé d’Affaires in Angola, who will temporarily head the Russian diplomatic mission in Luanda until a new ambassador is appointed.
During his eight-year mission in Angola, the Russian ambassador monitored and supported relevant initiatives developed to strengthen the historic ties between Angola and the Russian Federation.
In the same period, high-level political and diplomatic dialogue was re-launched, as well as the signing of legal cooperation agreements in areas such as energy, transportation, personnel training, information technology and security.
In the economic field, partnerships in the mining and energy sectors were boosted, with Russian companies strengthening their presence in the Angolan market.
