Africa-Press – Angola. FC Bravos do Maquis will face Orlando Pirates, Kaizer Chiefs, and Super Sport United, teams from the South African First Division, during the preseason phase that begins on Thursday in Johannesburg, South Africa.
The Angolan team that will travel Wednesday is expected to face Orlando Pirates on Thursday, followed by five more matches, according to statements from head coach Mário Soares, during a press conference.
He explained the trip to South Africa related to their participation in the 2025/26 football season by citing the fact that Maquis lost 12 players and they want to prepare the new squad of 28 players, 12 of whom were new signings.
He mentioned that among the key players the team lost Samy, Rúben, Odah, Edmilson, Nigo, Jó Paciência, Francys, Samy and Macaiabo.
The Maquis were in the country’s capital, Luanda, for medical examinations and some control matches against local teams.
The Maquis are in fifth place in the 2024/25 Girabola rankings. The team will have the Girabola and the Angola Cup as their main objectives.
