Africa-Press – Angola. National Police spokesperson Mateus Rodrigues considered some information circulating on social media, which tends to destabilize or create a climate of fear in Angola, to be false, slanderous, and criminal.
According to the commissioner, who was presenting the country’s public security situation, there is no reason for alarm or restrictions on citizens’ daily lives.
“We have been closely following the publication and dissemination of content on social networks, many of which with the sole purpose of spreading fear, insecurity and social instability,” he said.
For Mateus Rodrigues, the wave of disinformation tends to intensify on the eve of major events, with the manipulation of videos and audios of events that have already passed, some of which have already been the target of disciplinary proceedings or judicial decisions.
Faced with this situation, the spokesperson urged citizens to rely only on official sources of information.
He revealed that the public security situation in Angola remains stable, with no incidents that compromise the functioning of public and private institutions or the free movement of people and goods.
He said that all security measures are safeguarded to ensure the normal functioning of the country, so that mass activities, whether national or international, can be carried out smoothly.
He stressed that any attempt to disturb public order will have a prompt and proportionate response from the country defense and security forces.
He reaffirmed the commitment of the National Police to public order and tranquility, as well as to the protection of people and property.
