Africa-Press – Angola. Angola’s Ambassador to Ethiopia and Permanent Representative to the African Union (AU) and the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA), Miguel Bembe, in Luanda, pledged to institutionalize partnerships at the Organization of African and Caribbean States Summit, to be held in September of this year.

In statements to the press on the sidelines of the National Conference on Human Capital, he emphasized that it is a highly important Summit, given the historical, cultural, and kinship ties that exist between Africa and the Caribbean peoples.

“This Summit will be an event at which the member states of the African Union and also those of the Caribbean Community will analyze the possibility of evolving into a partnership,” he explained.Furthermore, also within the framework of the continental organization’s activities, he noted that the second African Climate Summit will be held from September 8th to 10th, following the one held in Nairobi, Kenya. This summit will take place under Angola’s presidency of the African Union Peace and Security Council.

“Climate change is a concern for humanity, not just the African continent, and it will be a very important moment for the Heads of State and Government of the African Union to address this issue, as it poses challenges for the future of humanity,” he stated.

Miguel Bembe assured that, in the near future, they may return to discuss in detail, particularly the activities that Angola plans to carry out within the Peace and Security Council as its chair in September.
