Africa-Press – Angola. The secretary general of the Organization of Angolan Women (OMA), Joana Tomás, assured, in Mbanza Kongo, Zaire province, that Angolan women are mobilized to participate in the General Elections and guarantee the reelection of President João Lourenço.
Joana Tomás made such considerations on the sidelines of the mass political act, held on Saturday in Mbanza Kongo, under the guidance of the MPLA president, João Lourenço. “We have a very fine machine. The mobilization of women for their participation in the general elections began much earlier. Now, we are putting into practice everything that we prepared before the beginning of the electoral campaign”, she stressed.
He considered the election year as a special one for the OMA, because the MPLA had proposed two women to important positions in the superstructure of the State hierarchy. Joana Tomás was referring, in particular, to Esperança da Costa, candidate for Vice-President of the Republic, and Carolina Cerqueira, candidate for President of the National Assembly.
“We are occupying places for meritocracy, highlighting the competence of women in the empowerment of women in areas such as academic and scientific, technical or professional exercise”, highlighted the OMA leader, stressing that “we are very prepared to assume any type of position at the level of our country”.
Joana Tomás said, in this sense, that this shows the commitment of Angolan women in the electoral dispute to consolidate the MPLA’s victory at the polls. JMPLA’s first national secretary, Crispiniano dos Santos, in turn praised the figure of President João Lourenço, considering him “a convinced leader who has clearly shown himself to be concerned with solving the main problems that affect the populations , in particular the youth”.
“We will give all the support necessary for him to be re-elected and continue to lead actions aimed at the development of our country”, assured Crispiniano dos Santos. The leader of JMPLA made it known that the human frame, mostly young, present in Largo Dr. António Agostinho Neto, in Mbanza Kongo, demonstrates the unconditional support that the youth place in the MPLA and in its president, João Lourenço”.
He added that the Executive led by the MPLA has shown its ability to overcome crises and solve the main problems that affect populations, with the implementation of various programs such as PAPE, KWENDA, PREI, among others.
