Africa-Press – Angola. Midfielder Mário Balbúrdia is hoping for new opportunities with the national football team after a long time without being part of the previous coaching staff’s options.
In statements to the press after the match in which Angola beat Zambia 3-2 in a friendly match at the 11 de Novembro stadium, despite his limited playing time, he said he hopes for more opportunities in the team’s upcoming matches.
“It was another opportunity given to me by the coaching staff, to whom I am grateful. We are working to improve ourselves in each game,” he said.
Mário admitted he is looking forward to being among the options for the Africa Cup of Nations, where, in his view, the group now led by the new coach is very strong and has balanced options.
The former 1o de Agosto player came on in the 83rd minute, replacing Núrio Fortuna, in a match that marks the start of the national team’s pre-season training cycle in preparation for the 35th edition of the Africa Cup of Nations (CAN 2025).
