Africa-Press – Angola. The Minister of Tourism, Marcio Daniel, announced on Tuesday that Angola is taking significant steps to establish itself as a premier tourist destination, particularly through its participation in major international tourism events.
The minister highlighted Angola’s participation in the Berlin International Tourism Fair (ITB) as a host country. ITB is one of the largest events in the world.
Daniel explained that Angola’s international projection as a tourist destination is based on a structured strategy of participating in the largest global tourism fairs, the impact of which is reflected in planning cycles of one to two years.
“The tourism that will take place in 2025 was marketed on a large scale in 2024. What we promote for 2026 will be felt in 2027 depending on our current efforts. That is why major trade fairs are crucial,” he stated.
Marcio Daniel revealed that Angola has secured its status as the host country for ITB 2026. This status usually results in over 50% growth in tourism demand the following year.
He added that Angola will also have a presence at the Stuttgart fair, the largest in the B2C segment of the German market. Its direct influence could substantially increase visitor numbers as early as 2026.
In addition to Germany, the minister mentioned that Angola will be present at other strategic fairs, such as FITUR in Madrid, one of the largest in Europe, and WTM in the United Kingdom in November. In June 2026, Angola will participate in Indaba in South Africa, which is aimed at the regional market.
He stated that this special program will transform Angolan tourism in terms of international demand over the next three years.
Addressing internal challenges, Márcio Daniel warned that national operators must adequately prepare for the projected growth.
“They must empower themselves now, train their staff, and improve hospitality services because tourism is not just about visiting; it’s about receiving,” he stressed.
He also called for the continuous improvement of services to ensure quality and healthy competitiveness in the sector.
The minister emphasized that Angola’s participation in major wholesale tourism markets aims to attract more visitors, consolidate partnerships, and establish the country as one of the most promising emerging destinations.
