Africa-Press – Angola. Angolan President and African Union chairperson, João Lourenço, had a telephone conversation on Thursday with the President of the European Council, António Costa, with whom he discussed the preparations for the Seventh African Union-European Union Summit.
The high-level meeting begins next Monday, in Luanda, and counts, by the end of this afternoon, with the confirmation of 73 delegations, of which 38 will be headed by Heads of State or Government.
This is the largest concentration of foreign delegations in Angolan territory since the proclamation of National Independence in 1975, and the number of presences is expected to increase in the coming hours, according to sources linked to the organization.
The Seventh AU–EU Summit will be co-chaired by João Lourenço, as Chairperson of the African Union, and by António Costa, as President of the European Council, reinforcing political dialogue and strategic cooperation between the two blocs.
