Africa-Press – Angola. The photographic exhibition named “Food Energy & Life,” by Italian photographer Gabriele Gallimberti, was opened on Wednesday in Luanda aiming to highlight Angola’s gastronomic traditions and agri-food chains.
The exhibition, which includes more than 40 works, will be on display at the Palácio de Ferro cultural center until the 21st of this month.
The initiative is structured around improved cooking systems, solutions designed to reduce biomass consumption, decrease emissions and improve air quality in homes, thus contributing to the sustainable development of communities.
Through his images, the Italian photographer shows the interiors of houses and villages to observe firsthand how people change their food preparation and daily lives due to new cooking systems.
The images also present various national foodstufs such as cassava, cornmeal, pumpkin, dried fish, dried meat, sweet potato, ginger, palm oil, tropical fruit called loengo, among others.
At the time, the exhibitor stated that the event is part of his program called “My Grandmothers’ Kitchen”, which highlights the history of national cuisine within the context of the good relations between Angola and Italy.
He added that the project in addition to Angola, where he has already visited the provinces of Luanda and Uíge, includes also Mozambique, Cote d ́Ivoire, and others.
The inauguration was attended by the Angolan Minister of Mineral Resources, Petroleum and Gas, Diamantino Azevedo, the Angolan Minister of Agriculture and Forestry, Isaac dos Anjos, as well as the Italian Ambassador to Angola, Marco Ricci, among other individuals.
