Kizomba is a musical genre and dance style of Angolan origin, which emerged in the 1980s, blending traditional Semba which is another similar style, with influences from Zouk music genre.

However, literally the Word Kizomba means “party” in the vernacular language Kimbundu. It is the musical style characterized by lyrics in Portuguese or another native language. The style generally features a slower and more sensual rhythm.

The dance is known for the strong connection between the two dancing couples, with close movements, sensuality, and constant embraces.
