Africa-Press – Angola. An Angolan delegation headed by the secretary of State for Technical Issues of the Ministry of the Interior, Cristino Mário Ndeitunga, is participating in the 93rd session of the International Criminal Police Organization (INTERPOL) General Assembly, which began Monday in Marrakech, Morocco.

The delegation includes the Director-General of the Criminal Investigation Service (SIC), Luciano Tanio da Silva, the Second Commander-General of the National Police, Chief Commissioner Domingos Ferreira de Andrade, and other high-ranking officials from the Ministry of the Interior.

The opening ceremony included speeches by the Director-General of National Security and Territorial Surveillance of Morocco, Abdellatif Hammouchi, and the chairman of INTERPOL, Major General, Ahmed Naser Al-Raisi.

The event is also being attended by the Moroccan Minister of the Interior, Abdelouafi Laftit, the Foreign Minister of Morocco, Nasser Bourita, the Deputy Minister of Budget, Fouzi Lekjaa, as well as the Secretary-General of INTERPOL, Valdecy Urquiza, and the Secretary-General of the Council of Arab Ministers of the Interior, Mohamed Ben Ali Koman.

The event is considered the highest governing body of INTERPOL and brings together leaders of police forces to analyze global crime trends, strengthen operational cooperation and define strategic priorities.

This year’s edition, which includes the participation of 196 delegations from member states, focuses on combating transnational organized crime, dismantling international fraud centers, strengthening police capabilities and promoting the participation of women in security structures.

Among the topics under consideration are the evaluation of the “Silver Notice” pilot project and the promotion of the ratification of the United Nations Convention on Cybercrime (Hanoi Convention).

The session also includes the election of new members to the INTERPOL.
