Vice President Discusses Access Routes with King of Mbunda

Africa-Press – Angola. The Vice President, Esperança da Costa, discussed on Tuesday issues related to rehabilitating access roads between Lumbala Nguimbo and Luena, as well as the situation of youth in the Moxico province, during an audience with King Mwene Mbandu V.

After the meeting, the Mbunda traditional authority told the press that the Moxico population has difficulty selling agricultural products due to poor access roads.

“The farmers produce, but they have no way to get their products to market,” he lamented.

Mwene Mbandu V said that the situation of the province’s youth was also discussed during the meeting. He suggested implementing education and training programs to help people avoid vices such as excessive alcohol consumption and other harmful practices. These programs would help integrate people into the local and national development process.

The king also expressed his desire to see the Mbunda language included in the programming schedule of Angolan Public Television (TPA) and Angolan National Radio (RNA).

Mwene Mbandu V said the vice president assured him that some of the concerns raised, especially those related to access roads, are included in the government program.

“The problem lies with budgetary limitations. Nevertheless, the Vice-President assured me that, in coordination with the Minister of Public Works, work will begin next year to approve the budget, similar to what was done on the Cazombo–Luau section. Then, the intervention will be extended to Moxico to facilitate population mobility,” he explained.

In September 2025, King Mwene Mbandu V was enthroned in the village of Lumbala Nguimbo after a vacancy on the throne.

Since then, he has prioritized defending the unity of the population and strengthening cooperation with the Angolan state.
