Sabotage Act Cuts Power in Cuanza-Sul and Benguela

Africa-Press – Angola. The provinces of Cuanza-Sul and Benguela are deprived of electricity, as a result of the collapse of some electricity transmission lines, which occurred on Tuesday, which even caused significant damage, according to the Ministry of Energy and Water.

According to this ministerial department, the acts of sabotage, which caused a blackout in the two provinces, since 2:15 pm on Tuesday, took the 220kV Cambambe – Ndala Cachibo and Gabela – Alto Chingo electricity transmission lines out of service.

The Ministry of Energy and Water points to losses estimated at around 50 million dollars this year alone (2025), caused by acts of vandalism of electrical equipment, causing material and commercial damage due to the untimely interruption of the system.
