Africa-Press – Angola. Work to bring the Welwitschia Mirabilis Airport in Namibe province into compliance with international standards is progressing well, a fact that will accelerate the international certification of this airport infrastructure soon, the project coordinator, Manuel da Fonseca, assured this Friday in this locality.
Fonseca said the work currently being done is related to the safety and operational aspects of the infrastructure into compliance.
“What we did was bring the operational areas, the runway and the fire station area into compliance, which previously functioned, but were not up to standard. Now we have formalized these aspects in accordance with the standards of the National Civil Aviation Agency,” he explained.
The commercial manager of the Brazilian company Fy Tour, Amanda Simões, on his turn, expressed the intention to explore the tourism potential of Namibe, emphasizing that the certification will allow Brazilian clients and those from other parts of the world to visit the province of Namibe.
