Africa-Press – Angola. President João Lourenço received on Tuesday in audience, in Luanda, the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary ambassador of the State of Palestine to Angola, Jubrael George Bishara Alshomali, at the end of his mission in the Southern African country.
During the meeting, the two parties addressed issues of common interest within the framework of existing political and diplomatic cooperation relations between Angola and Palestine.
The Palestinian diplomat, who has held this position in Angola for three years, did not make any statements to the press after the audience.
Angola maintains cooperation relations with Palestine based, above all, on political, diplomatic and solidarity support, in defense of the Palestinian people’s right to self-determination.
The Angolan State officially recognizes Palestine and defends the two-state solution, with the creation of an independent and sovereign Palestinian state.
In international forums, such as the United Nations and the Non-Aligned Movement, Angola has expressed support for resolutions favorable to Palestine, emphasizing the importance of respect for international law and human rights.
Cooperation between the two countries is mostly political and institutional, marked by historical solidarity resulting from shared experiences of struggle for independence.
Although still limited in economic terms, the bilateral relationship shows prospects for deepening in areas such as education, culture and training.
Angola has reaffirmed its support for peace in the Middle East and the Palestinian cause through diplomatic means.
