Africa-Press – Angola. The Attorney General, Hélder Pitta Gróz, stated on Thursday in Huambo that the public’s trust in the Public Prosecutor’s Office and in the justice system depends on the ethical, honest, and responsible conduct of magistrates and other employees of the institution.

The magistrate made the statement at the opening of the 29th Advisory Council of the Attorney General’s Office (PGR), which takes place until Friday, under the motto “PGR – Legality, integrity, ethics and citizenship.”

Hélder Pitta Gróz stressed that legality constitutes the primary reason for the institutional existence of the Attorney General’s Office and that the institution must be an example of respect for legal norms, discipline and professional rigor, even before demanding compliance with the law from citizens.

The meeting aims to conduct a critical analysis of the organization and functioning of the institution’s bodies and services, assess the degree of understanding and acceptance of ethical and deontological principles, criteria and values, as well as project the institutional development of the Attorney General’s Office for the five-year period 2023-2028, focusing on the modernization, efficiency and transparency of service provided to the citizens.

Established on April 27, 1979, the Attorney General’s Office has the mission of defending democratic legality and the interests of the State, and is responsible, among other duties, for promoting criminal proceedings and exercising criminal action before the courts.
