The construction of the new Basilica of Our Lady of Muxima in Angola is progressing well and aims to create a major Marian center in Sub-Saharan Africa.

Located in Quissama, 130 km from Luanda capital, the project includes the Basilica with 4,600 seats, a plaza for pilgrims, the requalification of the village and the Fort, with completion estimated in 36 months after the first stone placed.

It will also be able to accommodate thousands of pilgrims in the adjacent plaza.

Village Requalification

In addition to the Basilica, the project includes sanitation, water, and energy infrastructure, a medical center, administration buildings, and population relocation.

The project includes a parking lot for 1,117 vehicles and buildings to support the clergy and residences.

The Muxima sanctuary is the largest Catholic pilgrimage site in Angola, and the new construction aims to dignify the site and increase its capacity to accommodate pilgrims.
