Africa-Press – Angola. A total of 12 million and 500 citizens, out of the 14 registered in the voters’ database, have an ID card, assured the Minister of State and Chief of Staff of the President of the Republic. During the Big Interview, Adão de Almeida mentioned that the Executive is making an effort to increase the availability of the Identification service, so that users have access to the ID card and are included in the voters’ database.
“At this moment, work is being carried out so that, from this year onwards, we will start to have more ID card offices, using the structures in the municipalities and communes of the Single Public Service Counter (BUAP)”, said Adão de Almeida, revealing the reactivation of the BUAPs.According to the Minister of State, it is expected that around 120 BUAP branches will be reactivated by the end of this year, in order to enable the decentralisation of the ID card issuing process.
“Today, ID cards are produced centrally in Luanda. The daily production capacity for this document is around six thousand cards per day, although there is potential to produce more”, he pointed out, stressing that centralisation poses a challenge in distribution. He said that there are currently 127 thousand ID cards to be collected.
On the occasion, Adão de Almeida said that around seven thousand cards are in the various Angolan Diplomatic Missions abroad, also waiting to be collected, also defending the need to improve the Identification Service, so that citizens have an ID card and, automatically, are voters.
