Administrator of Uíge recognizes the role of the church in national unity and reconciliation

Africa-Press – Angola. The municipal administrator of Uíge, Maria Cavungo, recognized, this Sunday, the role of the church in unity, national reconciliation and pacification of spirits, in order to promote social well-being.

Maria Cavungo, who was speaking at the end of the jubilation service and inauguration of the new provincial leader of the Assembly of God Pentecostal Church in Uíge, reverend Kivuila Mbuta, spoke of the role of the church in spreading the message of forgiveness, love and moralization of society.

In turn, the legal representative of the Pentecostal Assembly of God Church (ADP), Reverend Francisco Sebastião, exhorted the faithful to adopt a position that is in line with peacekeeping, coexistence in diversity, changing mentalities, in order to improve quality of life of the population.

As for the church’s challenges, the religious leader said that it should continue to focus on information, human training, opening temples and schools, eradicating illiteracy and other social actions.

ADP Church has new leader in Uíge

Reverend Kivuila Mbuta José is the new provincial presbyter of the Assembly of God Pentecostal Church in Uíge, sworn in yesterday by the legal representative of this religious denomination in the country, Reverend Francisco Sebastião.

The new leader replaces Reverend Menga Pedro, who has held this position since 1993.

The 82-year-old Reverend Menga Pedro was retired as an emeritus priest of the ADP in Uíge.

The newly sworn in presented the challenges of implementing the secondary course in theology (an extension of the IBA) and the rehabilitation of the Pastoral House, located in the Mbemba Ngango neighborhood, in the city of Uíge.

The service, attended by 2,630 faithful from various parts of the province, was also attended by representatives of other religious denominations, members of the provincial government and defense and security bodies, among other guests.
