Africa-Press – Angola. The Association of Students of Private Universities of Angola (AEUPA) asked, Wednesday, in Luanda, that the resources available in the vital sector of society, with emphasis on Education, be managed with greater transparency.
The president of the AEUPA, Joaquim Caiombo, who was speaking at the Cycle of Conferences on Combating Corruption and Related Crimes, said that Education is a sector that has a fundamental role in the formation of man and, therefore, can help to combat these evils. that sicken Angolan society.
Therefore, he highlighted the launch of this cycle of conferences, which took place under the motto “Student Leaders, United for the Eradication of Corruption in the Higher Education Subsystem in Angola”, he said that the objective is that the managers of institutions of Public Higher Education and Private do the execution of projects and financial resources in a positive way.
Joaquim Caiombo stressed that the initiative also aims to contribute to the implementation of the political-legal framework and the Strategic Plan for Preventing and Combating Corruption in Educational Institutions.
The president of the AEUPA said that it is time for academics to contribute to the process of preventing related crimes. “We want to say enough to corruption in the education sector, as it is an evil that destroys nations, cancels dreams and postpones the country’s future”.
Joaquim Caiombo said that it is necessary to prepare youth with themes that bring solutions to society, and watch over the future that the millennium indicates. He added that the fight against related crimes should not be a flag carried by a single body, but by the whole of society.
The national director of Youth, Kikas Machado, who spoke on behalf of the Secretary of State for the sector, Fernando João, said that corruption and influence peddling are anti-values, whose fight should be everyone’s obligation.
Kikas Machado highlighted that, for the first time in the country, the Youth Policy was approved, which prioritizes seven areas of action and covers key programs for the integral development of young people.
He highlighted that, in 2016, the African Union launched the roadmap for achieving the demographic dividend, through investments in agriculture, which provides for three fundamental axes, namely Entrepreneurship, Education, Health and well-being to empower young people.
Punctual Response To Crimes
The Deputy Attorney General of the Republic, João Luís Freitas Coelho, assured that all cases that reach the institution related to corruption and related crimes are dealt with punctually.
The official stressed that the fight against corruption has not been an obstacle, although the Criminal Procedure Code contains some loopholes used by lawyers, in certain measures, in the trial stages to extend some deadlines, which results in the delay of certain cases that are in court.
