Africa-Press – Angola. The Angolan basketball team faces, Thursday, at 6 pm, in Luanda, a similar team from Rwanda, in the quarter-finals of AFROCAN ́2023, teams that meet two years later.
After guaranteeing (Wednesday), at the Kilamba pavilion, the qualification in the victory over Mozambique, by 73-62, the Rwandans face, Thursday, the Angolans, who passed directly to the referred stage.
Angola and Rwanda played for the last time, in August 2021, in the Afrobasket group stage, in the city of Kigali, where the hosts won by 71-68.
The direct qualification of the National Team for the quarter-finals, is due to the first place in Group B, with 4 points.
Even Morocco beat Cameroon, by 78-50, and Nigeria defeated Gabon, by 71-55.
In the last game, this Wednesday, Mali faces Côte de Ivoire, in which the winner will face Tunisia.
The second edition of the competition, reserved for players who play on the continent, has the participation of 12 selections.
The title of the competition is in possession of the Democratic Republic of Congo, which won in 2019, in Bamako (Mali), a similar one from Kenya.
Angola, at the time, coached by Paulo Macedo, ranked third.
