Africa-Press – Angola. The Head of State of São Tomé and Príncipe said, this Monday, in Luanda, that President Agostinho Neto continues to be a source of inspiration for the current Angolan and African leaders.

Carlos Vila Nova made these statements to the press, moments after visiting the Dr. António Agostinho Neto, as part of his State visit to Angola.

He considered that President Agostinho Neto means a lot to Angola, to the African continent and to the world. He added that the legacy of the founder of the Angolan Nation will not fade, he serves as an inspiration for young people, teenagers and current Angolan and African leaders.

The Head of State of São Tomé and Príncipe defended that the legacy of Agostinho Neto should be continued in the construction of a new homeland.

“This sums up, in a way, what Agostinho Neto represented for all of us, especially for Angola and for the Angolan people, where he is the father of the Nation and the National Hero. Therefore, it is for eternity, it is a moment. that have to be summarized to have the meaning it deserves,” he said.

Regarding relations between Angola and São Tomé, he said that they have always been good in the historical, cultural and friendship context. The visit to Angola, he underlined, means just that, to strengthen these relations, to find new ways of cooperation.

The President of the Republic of São Tomé was accompanied by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Angola, Téte António. Carlos Vila Nova visited the sarcophagus where the mortal remains of the founder of the Angolan nation rest, having laid a wreath and in the end signed the book of honor.

University Campus

The President of the Democratic Republic of São Tomé and Príncipe visited, just yesterday, the Agostinho Neto University Campus, in Luanda. On the occasion, the statesman met with the rector of the UAN, Pedro Magalhães, and with the Secretary of State for Higher Education, Eugénio da Silva.

The act was part of the three-day State visit to Angola, with the aim of strengthening bilateral cooperation and opening new perspectives for other areas.
