Africa-Press – Angola. An agreement for the development of agritourism, in the Mucusso commune, Cuando Cubango province, was signed this Friday, in Luanda, between the National Agency for Management of the Okavango Region (ANAGERO) and the consultancy and management company of Nkiela projects.

In a ceremony led by the Minister of Culture and Tourism, Filipe Zau, the agreement was initialed by the president of the Board of Directors (PCA) of ANAGERO, Rui Lisboa, and by the general director of Nkiela, Sandra Sabrowsky.

For minister Filipe Zau, this is the first step towards the development of tourism in the Okavango region, whose project envisages the involvement of the population.

According to the official, the signing of this agreement is in line with the first Okavango investor forum, taking place next November, with the aim of raising awareness about investment opportunities in this region.

In turn, ANAGERO’s PCA, Rui Lisboa, said that they will provide all the necessary institutional support for the implementation of the project and allocation of a plot of land in the region.

He said they will work on earthmoving the access roads, create basic infrastructure and border posts, to facilitate movement, provide natural attractions and allow Namibian tourists to access the project space, estimated at 500 hectares.

He emphasized that the project will boost local tourism, promote employability and support communities with business opportunities.

Speaking to the press at the end of the event, Sandra Sabrowsky spoke about the creation of infrastructure conditions for welcoming tourists in the Okavango region, in order to contribute to the activation of local tourism.

He said that the work will begin with raising awareness among local communities, educating them on the protection of fauna and flora.

Without advancing the value of the investment, the director informed that a safari resort will be created, to allow tourists to benefit from a natural accommodation environment.
