Africa-Press – Angola. Taxpayers from the Sixth Tax Region in Cunene province were, this Thursday, clarified about the procedures of tax processes and the guarantees before the General Tax Administration (AGT).
The action, part of the first regional forum with taxpayers, aims to strengthen the relationship between AGT and taxpayers, as participants in the tax undertaking process.
On the occasion, the director of the Sixth Tax Region of the AGT, Hélio André Nzage, said that the event aims to improve the performance of the tax administration and its relationship with taxpayers, within the framework of the tax education and citizenship program.
He clarified that the body’s mission is not only to collect revenue, but to educate and provide taxpayers with useful information about their rights and guarantees.
The meeting, he said, was divided into three panels, namely “Tax procedures and taxpayer guarantees”, “Tax enforcement process” and “Perspectives of stakeholders in the tax procedure and process”.
On his turn, the deputy governor for the Political, Economic and Social sector of Cunene, Apolo Ndinoulenga, highlighted the promotion of the event as constituting a close link between the AGT and taxpayers, based on the theme of tax education.
The official pointed out that the forum will allow for an open and participatory debate and sharing of information and knowledge, to instill in taxpayers the true tax culture through a broader understanding of tax matters.
Apolo Ndinoulenga reasoned that the tax reform aims to facilitate, simplify and streamline the dialogue process between taxpayers and AGT, attract investment and revenue collection for the State, in a fair and equitable manner.
In this regard, he argued that, due to the macroeconomic situation that the country is going through, the Angolan Government is committed to diversifying the economy and collecting tax revenues, as an assertive measure to change the current economic context.
For this reason, he invited the tax community to mobilize itself for the growth of the economy, based on the consolidation of the tax chain, on the reinforcement of the principle of collaboration and on the role that should be given to taxpayers in the dynamics of the processing of areas of oversight.
“Efforts must be centered on efficient tax methods and it is essential to favor the chain of tax processing, where the achievement of quality service provision aims at satisfying the public interest”, he underlined.
Under the motto “Communicate for better taxation”, the forum has the participation of representatives of the business class, the Angolan Bar Association, accountants, Tax Police, National Police, Migration and Foreigners Services, academics, among others.
