Africa-Press – Angola. The ambassadors of the Republics of Angola and Tunisia, Domingos Pacheco and Zied Saadaoui, respectively, analyzed, on Wednesday (13), bilateral relations and the possibility of strengthening cooperation in productive areas.
On the occasion, both entities also talked about the cooperation of their two States with Côte d’Ivoire, considering this West African country to be important and strategic in helping to boost the economies of both Angola and Tunisia.
During the meeting, at the Embassy of Angola, the two diplomats highlighted the agriculture and tourism sectors as centers of attraction and development, judging by the status of a pivot assumed by Côte d’Ivoire in the ECOWAS Region.
The Economic Community of West African States currently has ten active members, namely Cotê d’Ivoire, Benin, Cape Verde, Nigeria, Ghana, Senegal, Guinea-Bissau, Liberia, Togo and Sierra Leone, with Burkina Faso suspended , Niger, Mali and Guinea.
“As part of complying with diplomatic practice and strengthening bilateral relations between States, the Tunisian ambassador to Côte d’Ivoire, Zied Saadaoui, paid a courtesy visit to his Angolan counterpart”, says a note from the Angolan Embassy.
Domingos Pacheco said that, with both Tunisia and Côte d’Ivoire, Angola wants bilateral relations to be more active and proactive within the framework of south-south cooperation, with the need for permanent dialogue at the level of member countries of the African Union being imperative..
“The preservation of effective peace and the sustainable development of the African continent necessarily involve dialogue, understanding and agreement between the citizens of the respective States”, asserted the Angolan diplomat.
In the note,the Angolan ambassador added “it is urgent to create a new dynamic of action by the Group of African Ambassadors accredited in Côte d’Ivoire”.
It is important to note that Zied Saadaoui is a career diplomat, and was accredited two (2) months ago as Tunisia’s ambassador to Cotê d’Ivoire, while Domingos Pacheco, also a career diplomat, has been Angola’s ambassador to that country since May 2023.
