Africa-Press – Angola. he Association for Women and Sport (AMUD) organizes, Saturday and Sunday, the third National Conference, at a time of continuous challenges, including empowerment, paths to full gender balance and equal opportunities.
To be organized under the motto “Inspiring Young Women to Practice Sport”, the grand meeting will bring together a cream of national and international lecturers to address topics of encouragement and passing on testimonies of former practitioners who became notable (noticed) through the sport.
Taking place at the Angolan Geographical and Cadastral Institute, in Palanca, in Luanda, starting at 8:30 am, the conference will have a round table that will address the theme “Obstacles and challenges overcome throughout the sporting career and its insertion in society”.
Speakers will be the Minister of Youth and Sports, Palmira Barbosa, the former judoka, Antónia de Fátima “Faia” and the former Paralympic long distance runner, José Armando Sayovo.
The theme “Gender equality policy and alignment with the objectives of sustainable development” will have as speaker the Minister of Social Action, Family and Women’s Promotion (MASFAMU), Ana Paula do Sacramento Neto.
The conference on the Olympic scholarship distribution program will be given by the secretary general of the Angolan Olympic Committee (COA), António Monteiro “Bambino”, while Filomena Fortes, from Cape Verde, will speak about “Women in sports management, their competence and commitment in the workplace”.
The conclave will address other matters of interest such as “Role of AMUD in promoting women in sport (the president of the institution, Justina Praça will be the speaker), in addition to a second round table on “Sport, motherhood and family” to be presented by former sportswomen Maria Barbosa “Manú”, Nádia Cruz and Manuela Oliveira (last doctor).
On Wednesday (10.30 am) a meeting with journalists is scheduled at the Sports Gallery to launch the activity programme, which will take place for the third time, after 2014 (Luanda) and 2010 (Benguela).
Founded on March 3, 2017, AMUD has offices in the provinces of Luanda, Cabinda, Zaire, Uíge, Malanje, Lunda Norte, Cuanza Norte, Bié, Huambo, Benguela, Bengo, Huíla, Namibe, Cunene and Moxico.
The Association, led by former handball player Justina Praça, controls more than four thousand women.
